John Athans Obituary
John Athans, age 91, of Lincolnwood, Illinois, passed away peacefully on July 5, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband of the late Loula nee Filopoulos; loving father of Nick and Bill (Bessy) Mitchell, Tony (Mary) and Pete (Olga) Athans; Proud Papou of Jonathan, Blake, Ashley, John Antony, Tia, John, Thomas, Kaliope and Thena; loving son of the late Antony and Panagiota; dear brother of Ntina (the late George) Chronis, James (the late Eleanor) Athans, the late Tasia (the late Pete) Georginis, the late Pete (the late Yanoula) Athans, the late Maria (the late Andreas) Bagianis, and the late Ted (Canellitsa) Athans; cherished brother-in-law of John (Maria) Filopoulos, the late George (Eleni) Filopoulos, the late Toula (the late Argiris) Thalassinos; beloved uncle and friend of many. John was born on July 17, 1931, in Karatoula, Megalopolis, Greece.
He was co-founder with his wife Loula of the Lincoln Restaurant in Chicago. John was a member and Past President of Megalopolis Society. Family and friends will meet Monday July 10, 2023, at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 2727 W. Winona St., Chicago, IL 60625, for visitation at 9:00am with funeral service at 10:00 a.m.
