He was predeceased by: his parent Thomas A. Pettus; and his siblings, Rod Pettus and Rhonda Pettus. He is survived by: his mother Patricia J. Pettus (Flahart); his wife Dawn Pettus; his stepsons, Alex B, Howard and Jeremy A; his brother Ron Pettus (Susan); and his parents-in-law, Lou and Marcella Tesh.

Memorial donations may be made to the Taylorville Police Department.
