He was predeceased by: his parents, William O. Schnell and Jean Schnell. He is survived by: his wife Diana Finley Schnell; his children, William F., Thomas of Lake Forest, IL and Jennifer; and his sisters, Mary Ellen Barry (late Jack Jr.) and Betsy Curran (Kevin). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.

“For all of Bill's family, I wanted to share our deepest condolences on his passing. He was a really good guy, one I was proud to say was my cousin. I recall running into Bill in the Seattle Airport many years ago, and sharing a flight with him to Chicago. I recall another time that I stayed with Bill's parents one night while I was doing legal work for Uncle Bill's former employer, Com Ed. Bill Jr. joined us and we had a long and delightful conversation. It was always good to see Bill.”
