He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Newton and Lela Ames (Runner); his wife Linda Maree Ferguson; his brother Roger Ames; and also Tawnjai Ames.
He is survived by: his children, Brenna Batson (Alan) and Jeff Ames (Brandi); his grandchildren, Kelsey Childress (Nick), Myles Batson, Juliene Snyder (Todd), Austin Ames (Sophie) and Landon Ames; his great grandchildren, Parker, Blake and Patrick; his siblings, Harold Ames (Mary Ellen), Sandra Adkins (Carroll), Don Ames (Dorothy), Nancy Trig (Jim), Phyllis Stewart, Betty Atteberry (Bob), Bill Ames (Shawn) and Gary Ames (Julie); his sister-in-law Mary Alice Ames; and his father-in-law Carl T. Ferguson. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations in his honor may be given to the Coles County 4-H Foundation or the Coles County Farm Bureau for scholarships.
