It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Virginia Shumaker (Lena, Illinois), born in Cedarville, Illinois, who passed away on November 5, 2021, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Warner Cummins and Rose Cummins (Cooper); her husband Robert Shumaker; her son Ronald Shumaker; her siblings, Harry, Wilbur, George Cummins, Barbara Richards, Cindy Lestikow, Lois Cummins, Madge Wilson, Viola Germain and Sharon Cummins; her brothers-in-law, Bob Lestikow and Gary Fetter; and her grandson Steven Grenoble.
She is survived by: her former husband James Kempel; her daughters, Judy Booth (Ed) of Forreston, Coleen Rakowska (Dana) of Freeport and Michelle Musser (Brent) of Freeport; her sister Glenda Fetter of Freeport; her daughters-in-law, Mary Arand of Rockford and Patricia Shumaker of Orangeville; her grandchildren, Tammy Brandt (Don), Jason Grenoble, Rick Shumaker (Sarah), Kristina Shumaker, Kendra Damaschke (Dave), Robert Shumaker (Kelsey Hobson), Carly Peters, Amanda Reed (Randy), Jessica Musser (Justin Moore) and Cassie Lampe (Andy); and her brother-in-law Leroy Wilson. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The pandemic was not kind to her, and she did not understand window visits at all and would become irritated when her visitors wouldn't come in.
Burial will be at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Memorial has been established in her name.
