It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Kempel of Lena, Illinois, born in Freeport, Illinois, who passed away on March 16, 2021, at the age of 82, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Nelson Kempel and Dora Kempel (Papp); and his brother LaVerl Kempel. He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Thruman; his wife Virginia Shumaker; his children, David Kempel of Monroe, WI, Andrea Kempel of Sterling, IL and Daniel Kempel of Omaha, NE; his grandchildren, Kristin Canas of Sterling, IL and Caden Celestino of Sterling, IL; his great grandchildren, Chloe and Corbin Scribner of Sterling, IL; his sisters, Donna Ruch of Monroe, WI, Patricia Pohl of Monroe, WI and Virginia Shumaker of Freeport, IL; and his close friends, Scott, Casey Solace, Cassie, Harriot and Wonder. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
