He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Hughes and Beatrice Hughes (McNeil); his wife Nancy York; his grandchildren, Jennifer Mielke and Craig Brinkmeier; and his siblings, Doris Lobdell, Betty Stamm and Jerry Hughes.
He is survived by: his children, Genise Tessendorf (Duane), LeeAnn Brinkmeier (Dan), Dan Hughes (Paris) and Lori Rankila (Dan); and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Michael Trappen, Matthew Brinkmeier, Marshall (Stephanie), Mason (Taylor), Mitchell Hughes (Jordyn), Morgan Simmons (Steve), Brandon Rankila (Kayla) and Jacob Rankila. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren.
