With heavy hearts, we announce the death of George Matz (Lena, Illinois), born in Madison, South Dakota, who passed away on January 11, 2021 at the age of 100. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Gotthart Matz and Augusta Matz; his wife Edna Johnson; his son-in-law Chuck Webster; and his siblings, William, Leo, Art, Freida, Leona, Arnie and Donnie.

He is survived by: his children, James Matz (Addie Dog) of Culpepper, VA, Judy Webster (late Chuck) of Lena, IL, Don Matz (Carolyn) of Warren, MN and Jeff Matz (Sue) of Freeport, IL; and his grandchildren, Jeremy Matz (Stephanie) of McConnell, IL, Melissa Campbell (Shayne) of Lena, IL, Josh Matz (Nikki) of Freeport, IL, Katye (Jacob Phelps) of Granbury, TX, Marcus Matz (Kelsie) of Maple Grove, MN, Scott Webster (Jill) of Freeport, IL and Aaron Webster (Kris Dehaven) of Freeport, IL. He is also survived by 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great grandchildren;' numerous nieces and nephews; and lifelong friends.

A memorial has been established in his memory.
