He was predeceased by: his parents, Clinton Owens and Amelia Owens (Sandberg); and his siblings, Robert Owens and Carol Marsh. He is survived by: his wife Dorothy A. Scott; his daughters, Patti Gantt (Jim) of Winter Springs, FL, Diane Kempel (Brad) of Lena, IL and Susan Bootz (Steve) of Montgomery, IL; his grandchildren, Jason Kempel (Jennifer) of Winslow, Bethany Haughan (Teag) of Tempe, AZ, Megan Slyter (Stuart) of Winter Springs, FL, Jared Gantt of Jacksonville, FL, Alyssa Gantt (Justin) of Gilbert, AZ, Steven Bootz Jr. of Montgomery, IL and Kaylee Bootz of Montgomery, IL; his great grandchildren, Owen Kempel, Emma Kempel, Luke Kempel, Liam Haughan and Ava Haughan; and his sisters, Muriel Everets and May Stout.

A memorial has been established for the Big Brother Big Sisters of Monroe WI, and the Lena Winslow Schools as education was very important to him.
