Kenneth Baumbach Obituary
Kenneth "Ken" Baumbach, 62, of Leland, passed away on August 22, 2021 after spending his final days surrounded by loved ones. Ken put up a strong fight against pancreatic cancer for the past 3 years. He was born on October 9, 1958 in Chicago, IL, the son of Paul and Patricia (Kopp) Baumbach.
Ken grew up in Medinah, IL, graduated from Lake Park High School in 1976 and attended NIU. He had a passion for cooking, but especially grilling. He always enjoyed having his kids over to cook big dinners for them. Ken was a big sports fan, of all kinds. He was a fan of any Chicago team, but held a special love for the Chicago Cubs. Ken was a Little League Coach for 7 years while his son, Nolan played. He liked all types of music, but was a big Rolling Stones fan, seeing them more times then he could remember. He worked for Jewel for over 30 years.
Survivors include his son, Nolan (Rena Jones) Baumbach; his daughter, Abby (Cameron Davy) Baumbach; his mother, Patricia Draper; his brother, John Baumbach; his nephew, Cody (Erica) Baumbach; his nieces, Heather (Alex Rojas) Baumbach and Monica Baumbach as well as 5 great nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his father, Paul Baumbach; his step-father, William Draper; his paternal grandparents, Ernst (Meta) Baumbach; his maternal grandparents, Anthony (Wanda) Kopp and his uncles, Don Kopp and Hugo Baumbach.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 29, 2021 from 1-4 P.M. at The Healy Chapel, 370 Division Drive, Sugar Grove, IL 60554.
