It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara M. Nelson of Leland, Illinois, born in Joliet, Illinois, who passed away on October 1, 2022, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, LaVerne Iverson and Ada Iverson (Greif); her husband David L. Nelson; her sisters, Patricia Guelde and Linda Kiest; and her siblings-in-law, Donald Gates, Wallace Alsip, Chuck Nelson, Rick Nelson and Marie Johnson.
She is survived by: her sons, Timothy Nelson (Valarie) of Leland, IL and Jeremy Nelson (Amee) of Leland, IL; her grandchildren, Michelle (AJ), Jordan (Candace), Caitlyn, Lynsey, Madison and Gunnar; her great grandchildren, Emma, Jocelyn, Chase and Natalie; her sisters, Bertha Smith (Ted) of Leland, Nancy Ensor (Larry Green), Lori Maitland (Dale) of Somonauk and Bernie Weymouth (John) of Earlville; and her siblings-in-law, Pat Gates of Somonauk, Rita Alsip of Minooka, Kay Nelson of Leland, Terri Nelson of Leland, Bob Guelde of Leland and Carl Kiest of Leland. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Lurie's Children's Hospital in Chicago, Ronald McDonald House Charities, or a charity of one's choice.
