He was predeceased by: his parents, Hazel Barshinger (Stryker) and Clarence Barshinger; and his brothers-in-law, Wayne Davey (Debra) and Gerald Davey (Lita). He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Davey; his children, Jonie Barshinger (Mark Cox) and Kelley Gebel (Andrew); his grandchildren, Jonathan, Anna, Lillie, Kelvin, Kennedy and Landrey; and his siblings, Kay Thorsen (Randall) and Jack Barshinger (Susan). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
