He was predeceased by: his parents, James Scales and Esther Scales; and his niece Rebecca Jones-Scales. He is survived by: his wife Donna Scales of Lebanon, IL; his child Ashley Renee Gross of Goreville, IL; his brothers, Christian Scales of Kansas City, MO, John Scales of Lebanon, IL and David Scales (Kim); his grandson Isaiah Christopher Reade; his nieces and nephews, Christina, Katherine Walcott, Casey Hobson, Carlee Frerking, Kayla Cook, Justine, James R. K. Scales, Joshua Scales, David Griffin Scales and James Griffin Scales; and his brother Dave Schaal.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, April 8th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery (2900 Sheridan Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125).
