He was predeceased by: his parents, Toivo Kivisto and Mary Irene Kivisto (O'Hare); and his brothers, Gary and Kevin. He is survived by: his wife Sharon of Leaf River; his sons, Erik of Leaf River, Konur of Leaf River and Isak of Leaf River; his siblings, Ronald Kivisto (Laura) of Sterling, Terrance Kivisto (Jonna) of Crystal Lake, Cheryl Kivisto-McCoy of Sycamore and Angela Kurth (Tom) of Rochelle; and his sister-in-law Kathy Kivisto. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the family to be established at a later date.
