He was predeceased by: his parents, William Leininger and Elizabeth Hafley Leininger; his wife Dorothy Jean Norman; his brother Ronnie Leininger; and his stepparents, Evelyn Leininger and Bill Gulley.

He is survived by: his daughter Lee Ann Leininger; his stepson Gregory S. Norman; his grandson Austin Leininger of Le Roy; and his siblings, Judy Howard of Decatur, Melody Reynolds of Rantoul, Linda Hagar (Roger) of Bloomington, Jerry Leininger (Cyndy) of Bloomington, Gordon Leininger (Janice) of North Carolina and Don Leininger (Helene) of Florida.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Hospital, the American Heart Association or Wounded Warrior Project.
