He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Leroy and Elizabeth Simmons (Mullinax); his siblings, Victor Simmons, William 'Bill Simmons, Sid Simmons, John Simmons and Elizabeth Ann Litherland; and his son-in-law Brad Volkman.
He is survived by: his wife Beverly Swaner; his children, Walter Len Simmons of Fort Walton Beach, Martin Ray Simmons (Angie) of Clemson and Marcie Reneé Mefford (Aaron) of Lawrenceville, Illinois; his brother Gary Simmons of Lawrenceville, Illinois; and his grandchildren, Clayton Simmons, Curtis Simmons, Brittany Joiner, Kelsey Simmons, Ronald 'Blake Simmons, Cole Simmons, Tanner Volkman, Dylan Volkman, Noah Volkman, Morgan Mefford and Brianna Mefford. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
A public visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM CST at the funeral home, with social distancing guidelines.
Beverly's heartfelt request is to have memorial donations be made to their granddaughter, Brittany, for her long-term medical needs and therapy.
