He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, James Ellsworth and Lois Emma Mefford (Kensler); his wife Patsy Jones; his children, Cynthia Schrey (Steve) of Olney, Illinois and Randy Mefford of Lawrenceville, Illinois; his half-siblings, Patricia Chansler of Abingdon, Illinois and David Mefford (Beverly) of Lawrenceville, Illinois; his grandchildren, Aaron Schrey (Natalie), Brett Schrey (Casey Parker) and Jennifer Holler (Travis); his stepgrandchildren, Tiffany Wampler (Scott), Brock Kessler (Abby) and Jamie Goss (Larry); and his great grandchildren, Lincoln and London Holler.

Memorial donations may be given to the First Christian Church in Lawrenceville, Illinois.
