With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gene Hays of Lawrenceville, Illinois, who passed away on November 23, 2021 at the age of 89. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Jasper Hays and Blanche Hays (Miller); his wife Patsy Wirth; his daughter Connie Forte; his siblings, James Hays, Amanda Crow and Rella Wampler; and his grandchildren, Nathaniel Morris and Alaina Morris.

He is survived by: his children, Chuck Christian of Lawrenceville, Illinois and Cyndi Hays-Morris (Rusty) of Lawrenceville, Illinois; his siblings, Jerry Hays (Donna) of Vincennes, Indiana and Rose Faith of Florida; his grandchildren, Shawna Forte, Brady Christian, Jama Bales, Annelise Morris and Graham Morris (Olivia); his great grandchildren, Peyton Bales of Ellie Bales, K. J, Mason Morris, Emma Morris and Joselyn Morris; and his close friend Hazel Thurston of Lawrenceville, Illinois..
