It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Stephen Mayerak Jr. of Lansing, Illinois, who passed away on March 26, 2024, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his former wife Mary; his parents, Stephen Mayerak and Sylvana Mayerak; and his sons, Sherman and Alan Mayerak.

He is survived by: his wife Myra; his son Jim (Betty); his daughter-in-law Dawn (late Sherman); his stepdaughter-in-law Melody Spayd (Brad); and his stepsons, Kyle Wiening, Kurt Wiening (Ann) and Keith Wiening (Kelly).

“Steve was the nicest man I ever met at. He always had a funny story to tell. He and Myra would always stop by our campsite to say hi when they were driving around on their golf cart. When I first met him I told him I wanted his turtle necklace since I have 2 red painted 🐢 turtles at home. He bought me a turtle necklace just like his that winter they went to Florida! Every time a hummingbird is at my camper feeder, I know it' Steve stopping by to say hi. Love, Lucy & Mark Laing”
