He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Florence (Fleming) and Lloyd Whitney. He is survived by: his wife Virginia Gmeiner; his daughter Jane Hunt (Patrick); his grandchildren, Bob (Eileen), Patrick (Kathleen) and Molly; his son John Jr. Whitney (Cindy); his grandsons, Jack III (Alice) and Tom (Becca); his daughter Mary Paulson (Tom); his grandson Tommy (Halie); his daughter Anne Callahan; his grandchildren, Madeline and Spencer (Nell); and his great grandchildren, Asha, Isabella, Jordan, Kendall, Griffin, Elizabeth and Thomas.
