He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Debra Egger; his parents, Joseph and Ann; and his siblings, Joseph Zaksas (Mary Jo) of Sarasota, Margaret Smith (Mark) of Loudon and Richard Zaksas (Laura) of Inverness. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Strang Funeral Chapel (410 E Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030).
