It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Mary DeWald of Lake Forest, Illinois, born in Chicago, Illinois, who passed away on July 16, 2024, at the age of 90, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Fraser and Mary Johnstone of Urbana; and her daughter Ann Elise DeWald. She is survived by: her husband Ronald Lee DeWald M. D.; her sons, Lee Fraser (Laura), Christopher James (Patricia) and Ronald Lee Jr. (Cathleen); and her grandchildren, Aleece Elizabeth Helland (Hans), Katherine Lee Heidt (Steven), John "Jack" Henry DeWald (Ali), Jenelle Ruth DeWald, Julianna Kellen DeWald, Daniel Christopher DeWald, Margaret Elizabeth DeWald and Luke Dillon DeWald. She is also survived by met her future husband, the love of her life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary's name to support her father's and grandmother's scholarship at Sewanee: The University of the South in Tennessee, established for deserving students. Donations will be accepted at support.sewanee.edu.
