He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Melhorn and Mabel Wilson Melhorn (Wilson). He is survived by: his spouse Teruyo Ogawa; his daughters, Lili J. Melhorn (Gordon Frankel) and Lisa A. Norton (Thomas); his granddaughter Emalie Dalbke (Steve); and his great grandchildren, Rowan Thomas and Zinnia Elyse.
