He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond McGowan and Rose McGowan (Valenzuela). He is survived by: his wife Judy Gentry; his children, Nathan McGowan (Sasoon) of California and Monica Register (Dustin) of Florida; and his siblings, Milton "Scott" McGowan of California, Cindy Kelleher (Robert) of Carmichael and LeAnn McGowan (Jerry Schweitzer) of Oregon. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
