He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Koehler and Estelle Koehler (Golatka); his wife Rosemary Mueller; and his siblings, Ken Koehler and Jean Boick.

He is survived by: his stepchildren, Bill Mueller (Becky) and Jane Pomije (Tom). He is also survived by four step grandchildren, and three step great-grandchildren.
