He was predeceased by: his wife Louise Callaghan; his siblings, William Callaghan (Maxine), Anne Marie Lorincz and Robert Callaghan (late Helen); and his sons, Stephen and Mark.

He is survived by: his children, Mary Lou Hurley (Tom), Michael (Sally), Jean McQuillan (John), Beth Puntini (Mike) and Matthew (Helen).
