He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph N. Gustafson and Mildred I. Gustafson (Swanston); his spouse Jean Dawson; and his siblings, Betty Acklin and Rolland.
He is survived by: his children, David Gustafson (Sandy) of Independence and Roberta Newby (Steve) of Independence, Missouri; his grandchildren, Sarah M. Gustafson of Independence, Patrick J. Newby (Sharyce) of Mentor, Amy J. Maehler of Germany and Brian P. Newby (Angela) of Northlake, Texas; and his half-brother James L. Gunther of Knoxville, Illinois.. He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Knoxville United Methodist Church in Knoxville, Illinois.
