Melvan L. Higgins Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Melvan L. Higgins of Knoxville, Illinois, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 14, 2024 at the age of 83. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Melvan L. Higgins to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvan L. Higgins and Faye L. Higgins (Cunningham); his wife Charlene Higgins; and his daughter Diana Dowdy. He is survived by: his children, Doreen Benson of Galesburg, Melvan Higgins, Jr. (Kay) of Bedford and Darlene Plue (Chris) of Knoxville; his son-in-law Clint Dowdy of Springfield; and his siblings, Myron L. Higgins (Kelly) of Aledo and Marilee Johnson (Lawrence) of Knoxville. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West, Inc. (1070 W Fremont St, Galesburg, IL 61401). A graveside service was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Knoxville Cemetery N. Market.
Memorials may be made to the Midwest Old Threshers Carousel House.
