He was predeceased by: his parents, Ed Smith and Jan Smith (Hickox). He is survived by: his wife Mary Lawson; his daughters, Kimberly Smith of Galesburg and Karie Swarts (Josh) of Galesburg; his granddaughter Sidney Almaguer; his stepgranddaughters, Kiersten Swarts and Kamrin McCoy (Kyle); his stepgreat-grandson Wyatt McCoy; and his siblings, Jerry Smith (Jaci) of Iowa and Jody Kane (Phil) of Memphis, TN..

Memorial contributions may be made to Music Makers in Galesburg for children who are in need of musical instruments.
