Thornton of Kirkland, Illinois, born in Sycamore, Illinois, who passed away on July 21, 2020, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Robert Byers and Wanda Byers (Miner); her husband Richard; her children, Neil and Marylyn Smith; and her brother Robert L. Byers.
She is survived by: her children, Kim Shipley (Terry Thompson) of Kirkland and Rick Thornton (Olivia) of Springfield; her children-in-law, Keiko Thornton of Dixon and Michael Smith of Genoa; her grandchildren, Callie, Justin, Tiffany, Priscilla, Tim, Mika, Ben, Nathaniel, Tabby, Richard and Jonathan; her siblings, Jane Johnson (Vernon) of Kirkland and William Byers of Rockford; and her sister-in-law Karen Byers of Venice, Fla.. She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
