He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Smith and Dorothy Smith (Green); his wife Anneliese E. "Ann" Kemptner; his children, Timothy "Mole" Smith and Dianna Turley; and his sisters, Myrtle "Mert" Nelson and Joyce Walker.

He is survived by: his son Jim Smith of Kewanee; his sister Betty Frampton of Kewanee; his grandchildren, Lisa, Ashley, Brandon, Kourtney and Logan; and his great grandchildren, Kristopher, Morgan, Nora, Knox, Theo, Max, Eli, Millie and Delaney.

Memorials may be directed to Alcoholics Anonymous.
