He was predeceased by: his father Terry Moore; his grandparents, Charles Thompson (Roberta) and Nancy Moore (Howard); and his brothers, Tracey Gillmer and Chris Thompson.
He is survived by: his mother Susan Moore (Thompson); his children, Aaliyah McLaurin of Peoria, David McLaurin Jr. of Kewanee, Ciara McLaurin of Colorado and Zachary McLaurin of Kewanee; his siblings, Katheryn "Kat" McLaurin (Amanda Calam) of Kewanee and Andrew McLaurin of Florida; and his grandson T. J. (Dave Vereecke).
