Edith Lorene Barham Obituary
Edith Lorene Corzine Barham, 88, of Karnak, passed away at 6:59 a.m.Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at the Southgate Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Metropolis.
Lorene was born November 29, 1933 in Karnak, Illinois.
She was a graduate of the Karnak High School. Lorene accepted Christ at the age of 16 and has been a lifetime member of the First Pentecostal Church in Karnak. Lorene and Noah Barham (deceased) were united in marriage in 1964. Lorene's life was the Lord, family and church. She loved to read. Lorene made weekly visits for thirteen years to the Southgate Nursing Home in Metropolis where she would entertain the residents by playing the piano and singing. She was a bookkeeper most of her life having worked for Fulkerson Bookkeeping, Alan Wehemyer Tax Services and later retired as the bookkeeper for Carl Corzine Feed Mill in Karnak. After retirement she went back to work for Shawnee Community College in the finance department.
Lorene is survived by one brother, Jerry (Geneva) Corzine of Belknap, Illinois; sister, Geraldine Corzine (Laura Sikes) who was like a sister of Bloomingdale, Georgia; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Lorene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Noah Barham; parents, Garvin Jackson and Birtie Ethel Waltmon Corzine; two brothers, Carl and William Corzine; two sisters, Wilma Eileen Alfter and Dorothy Louise Owens; two infant brothers.
Funeral services honoring the life of Mrs. Edith Lorene Corzine Barham will be Saturday October 8, 2022 at 1 p.m. at the First Pentecostal Church in Karnak. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. Saturday until the service hour. Brother Jr. Wood and Brother Tim Newton will be officiating. Interment will follow at the Cypress Cemetery in Cypress, Illinois.
Pallbearers will be Garvin Alfter, William Alfter, Steven Alfter, Troy Alfter, Marvin Carlton and Carlos Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers will be Curtis Alfter, Phillip Corzine and JG Corzine.
