He was predeceased by: his parents, Harvey Charles and Lucille Heinlein (O'Neil); and his son Joel Heinlein. He is survived by: his wife Patricia McKenzie; his children, Doris Bottom (Irv) of Largo, Chuck Heinlein Jr. (Lorraine) of Mattoon, Dennis Heinlein (Roxana) of Ashmore and Jon Heinlein (Sophie) of Round Lake; his brother Donald Heinlein (Kay) of Anaheim, California; and his grandchildren, Heather Rieck (Jason), Christopher Bottom, Miranda Shepherd, Aaron Heinlein (Cassandra), Jesse Shepherd (Candace), Amanda Pullen (Michael), Lindsey Heinlein (Tyler Jackson), Samantha Heinlein, Suzanne Heinlein and Selena Heinlein. He is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to Worldwide Work of Jehovah's Witnesses.
