It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Carrol E. McCord of Kansas, Illinois, born in Palestine, Illinois, who passed away on January 13, 2021, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert O. McCord Sr. and Avis M. McCord (Adams); his wife Marsha Lynn Culver; his grandson Nicholas McCord; and his sister Rita Elder.

He is survived by: his children, Douglas McCord (Tracey) of Oblong, C. Duane McCord (Kelly) of Imperial and Darra Walker (Chuck) of Kansas; his siblings, Larry McCord of Palestine, Robert McCord Jr. of Palestine, Brenda Reed of Eugene and Marsha Jackson of Mattoon, Illinois; his grandchildren, Bethany Walker (Ryan), Jennifer Jones (Collin), Nathan, Noelle McCord, Charlee Alexeev (Gleb) and James Walker; and his great grandchild Liam Douglas Walker.

For those who wish, the family suggests that memorials be made to the Edgar County Shrine Club or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“Carrol and I attended elementary together, played Little League and Babe Ruth baseball together. We also played in the fields behind our house on West Grand Prairie St. Palestine ,when we could muster enough to play. We could always count on the three McCord boys. We lost touch after the seventh grade when my family moved out of town. Carrol was a quiet, and a true friend once he knew you. My sympathies to the family.”
