He was predeceased by: his parents, William Perry and Evelyn Ruth Shanks Shonk; and his nephew Mikey Shonk. He is survived by: his children, Amber Burns (Michael) of Kansas and Brian Shonk Jr. of Newburg, Indiana; his adoptive daughter Jennifer Hornbrook of Paris, Illinois; his brother Michael Shonk (Debbie) of Paris, Illinois; his niece Angie Bercaw (Seth); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Paisley Ruhlig, Brooklyn Sweet, Spencer Ruhlig and Whaylon Bercaw. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren.

The family request that memorials be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
