He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father James Jefferson Sr.; his wife Betty Jean Jefferson of Wilmington, Illinois; his son Marcus Jefferson (Deborah) of Kankakee; his grandchildren, Marion Jefferson of Carbondale, Illinois, Sha-Toree Norris (Joseph Jr.) of Cleveland, Ohio, Shae-Lyce Cunningham of Maple Heights, Ohio, Shakari Cunningham of Kankakee and Sanaia Cunningham of Kankakee, Illinois; his great grandchildren, Marianna Norris of Cleveland, Ohio, Areeyanna Norris of Cleveland, Ohio and Joseph Norris III of Cleveland, Ohio; his sister Brenda Hunt of Minneapolis, Minnesota; his nephew Gregory Smith (Patricia) of Bourbonnais, Illinois; his son Derrick Jefferson; and his sister Bernice Swoope. He was also cherished by nephews, nieces, great nieces and great nephews.
