The memory of Michael E. O'Connell Sr. of Kankakee, Illinois, who passed away on April 2, 2025 at the age of 71, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. He was predeceased by: his parents, John O'Connell and Anne Marie O'Connell (Guare); and his nephew Ryan O'Connell. He is survived by: his wife Tami O'Connell of Kankakee; his children, Kelly Rodriguez (Alberto) of Orland Park, Mikey O'Connell (Kathy) of Palos, Patrick O'Connell of Beverly, Dale Meredith (Courtney) of Herscher and Eric Meredith (Heather) of Bonfield; his grandchildren, Dylan, Kyla, Tessa, Roxie, Mona, Cooper, Grayson, Cole and Chase; and his siblings, Johnny O'Connell (Vicki) of Kansas City, Maureen Murphy (Gene) of Glen Ellyn and Kevin O'Connell (Bridgette) of Elmhurst. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as many special friends.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jensen Funeral Home (3639 EAST State Route 17, Kankakee, IL 60901). A memorial service was held on Wednesday, April 9th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location. The family asks that due to allergies, please no lilies if there is a desire to send flowers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Uplifted Care of Bourbonnais or the St. Jude Children's Hospital.
