He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. Robert Arthur and Eleanor Jo Wertz (Hensley); and his siblings, Bob and Martha. He is survived by: his daughter Faith Wertz; the parent of his child Sheree Wertz; his close friend Deia Beckman; his sister Carrie Wertz Sloan; his brother-in-law Stephen D. Sloan; his nephews, Brian (Erica) and Stevie; his niece Catherine; his brothers, Stephen Wertz and Dr. David (Hope Wertz); his nieces and nephews, Abby and Ivy; his sister-in-law Kate Wertz; his nephew Patrick; his sister-in-law Jacque; and his nieces and nephews, Kaiden, Cannon, Kathy Sievers, Deia Beckman, Jenna McCabe, Kera Halpin, Caryn Miller and Andy Pham.

Memorials may be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation or the Salvation Army.
