He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Kern and Stella Kern (LaPlant); his wife Nancy Smith; and his brother Allen Kern. He is survived by: his children, Stephen (Lisa Kern) and Michelle (Ryan Zettle); his grandchildren, Jennifer Berg (Peter), Leah Kern, John Zettle and Jonah Zettle; his sister Lavon (Gary Blasey); and his siblings-in-law, Leora Smith of Bourbonnais, Tricia Smith of Las Vegas, NV and Lee Smith of Nashville, TN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Rose of Lima Chapel (486 W Merchant St, Kankakee, IL 60901). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, December 23rd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to family wishes.
