He was predeceased by: his father Rev. Louis P. Wells; his wife Sylvestine Young Wells; his siblings, James Smith, Joe Lee Smith, Willie B. Smith and Odesther Smith (Mickey); and his great-nephew Sy'Air Juelz Waiters.
He is survived by: his mother Rebecca Rogers Wells; his siblings, Rachel Rusk (Elijah Jr.) of Bloomington, Jasmine Wells of Wausau, Everett Wells (Beverly) of St. Louis, David, Louis Wells of Kankakee and James Wells of Wausau, Wisconsin.; his close friends, Deacon Feotis Moore, Larry Gray, Rev. Ervin Marshall Jr. Mark, Melissa Baker, Marianne Blagg, Lynell Mayo, Rick Camacho, Kesha Yansen and Robert Marshall; and his nieces, Cassondra Wells and Elaine Smith Rimpson.
