She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Newell and Allie Stewart Newell; her husband Joseph Thomas; her children, Isadora Calhoun, Shirley Benson and Frank Harris; her sons-in-law, Eugene White and James Boykins; and her great grandchild Shantaya White.
She is survived by: her children, Bettie White of Kankakee, IL, Thelma Boykins of Las Vegas, NV, David Thomas (Twilla) of Kankakee, IL, Joseph Thomas (Theresa) of Rolling Fork, MS, Wille Harris (Ella) of Mayersville, MS and Freddie Harris (Deborah) of Vicksburg, MS; her daughter-in-law Ethel Harris of Mayersville, MS; and her close friends, Willie King, Leana Wilson and Ethel Flynn. She is also survived by eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; five Godchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 at 10:00 AM at 570 N Harrison Ave, Kankakee, IL 60901.
