He was predeceased by: his sister Cecilia Ogarek (Joseph); his parents, Margaret Cahill and Leslie Cahill; and his father-in-law Lawrence. He is survived by: his wife Connie Cahill; his children, Mike Cahill, District-Chicago (Dawn) and Brian Cahill; his grandchildren, Ryan, Jack, Megyn and Kaitlyn; his brothers, Hugh, James Cahill and Patrick Cahill; his mother-in-law Dorothy Anderson; and his siblings-in-law, Mark, Marcia Anderson, Dan and Sharon Firlit.
