He was predeceased by: his father Julio A. Merlos. He is survived by: his spouse Bozena Merlos; his children, Matthew, Anthony, Nicholas and Stella; his mother Sonia Alvarenga; and his siblings, Isis Merlos, Hadit Santana, Dennise Acosta and Maria Acosta (Israel Alicea). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
