It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Velia M. Lara of Joliet, Illinois, who passed away on April 5, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
She was predeceased by: her father Albert Rodriguez; her husband Guillermo G. Lara Sr.; her son Guillermo G. (Lara Jr.); her mother Celia (Willie Guajardo); her siblings, Sarah J Rodriguez, Antonio Guajardo, Rey Guajardo and Clara Guajardo; her nephew Alex R Mares; and her uncle Locardio Limon.
She is survived by: her daughters, Blanca and Melissa Lara; her grandson Maxwell; her siblings, Jaime Guajardo (Rosie), Kim Mares (John), Alicia Stogsdill and Rachel Warning; and her pets, GiGi, FiFi, Angel, Lulu and Maggie. She is also survived by godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home (3200 Black Rd, Joliet, IL 60431). A funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 10:45 AM and at 11:00 AM at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church (205 E Jackson St, Joliet, IL 60432).
