She was predeceased by: her parents, Mitchell Smith, Sr. and Bettie S. Smith,; her sisters, Vickie Gavins and Charlene Smith; her nephew Kashif Logan; and her great-nephew Eric Ervins.
She is survived by: her children, Glennisha and Richard Gavins of Joliet, Illinois; her grandchildren, Donovan, Daniel, Travion, Emmoni, Richard Jr., Zyan, Ri'Niya and Joshua; her siblings, Barbara Robinson, Sharon Beamon (Edward), Darnell Smith (Sylvia) and Mitchell Smith (Brenda); and her close friends, Barbara Thigpen, Anita "Peppir" Covington and Norma Jean Wright. She is also survived by sisters, as well as a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Christ Temple Church (212 Richards St, Joliet, IL 60433). A funeral service was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 at the Elmhurst Cemetery (1212 E Washington St, Joliet, IL 60433).
