It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Merle Alphonse Hoebing of Joliet, Illinois, who passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Alois Hoebing and Gertrude Hoebing; his siblings, Raymond Hoebing, Rosella Hoebing-Neasta and Delores Hoebing; and his grandson Jose Alejandro Salas.
He is survived by: his children, Andrea, Joshua Hoebing and Matthew Hoebing; and his grandchildren, Justyn Rivera (Chris Hopkins), Michael Anthony Salas, Michael Joshua Hoebing, Jessica Carah Hoebing, Daisy May Hoebing and Hailey Elizabeth Hoebing.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 14th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home (3200 Black Rd, Joliet, IL 60431). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 10:15 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the St. Mary Nativity Catholic Church (706 N Broadway St, Joliet, IL 60435). A burial was held on Wednesday, January 15th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
