She was predeceased by: her parents, Rev. Nathaniel James Sr. and Carrie James; and her siblings, Bernice Brown, Erma Jean Brown, Maethaniel White, Lauretta Brand, Katherine Carr and N. H. James Jr..
She is survived by: her siblings, Bishop Leonard James (Linda), Joyce Brown (Maurice), Diane Ellis and Patsy Martin (Otis); her husband L. C. Thompson Jr.; her sons, Anthony (Kolanda), Mel, Aaron (Bia) and Greg (Tiffany); her grandchildren, Danurris, Tujuana, Anthony Jr., Tony, Sumiyah, Tevin, Raquel and Isaiah; and her great grandchildren, TaLiyah and TJ. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Brown Chapel A. M. E. Church (1502 Mills Rd, Joliet, IL 60433). A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery (20953 W Hoff Rd, Elwood, IL 60421).
