She was predeceased by: her parents, Luvenia M. Taylor (Watts) and Duane Joseph Gaines; and her husband Donald "Donnie" Carcais McElrath. She is survived by: her brothers, Andre Gaines (Valerie) of Joliet, IL and Keith Gaines (late Bernestine) of Milwaukee, WI; her stepbrother Terry Taylor (Nena); her parents-in-law, Ora Lee and Coy Jones McElrath; her sister-in-law Yolanda McElrath; her cousins, Stephanie Williams, Sandy McGowan and Nate Corpending; her close friends, Donetta Prater, Carolyn Spinks and Melissa White; and also Angel Olden-Coe. She is also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church (402 Singleton Pl, Joliet, IL 60436). A celebration of life was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
