He was predeceased by: his parents, Harry Smith and Cecilia Smith (McLeran); his siblings, Bobby, Harry, Sharon Smith and Shirley Bohanon; and his great grandchild Tyler Michael Gene Davis.
He is survived by: his wife Rita Smith (McCree); his daughters, Maelena Hordin (Ryan) of Carbondale, Sonya Smith (Lucas White), Beth Smith of DuQuoin and Merideth Smith of Marion; and his siblings, Hank McLeran (Jan) of Monmouth and Rose Hawkins of Galesburg. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; ten great grandchildren.
